A PERSONAL APPROACH

A personally designed journey through Périgord, not just an excursion

“The Dordogne is more than a region. It is a whole universe of flavours to experience from within, rather than look at from outside."YOUR SOMMELIER-GUIDE”Your guide-sommelier

Périgord Noir · Sarlat · Beynac · Cahors

01

Places you do not find on Google

Every address in the programme is the result of years of personal relationships with the Dordogne’s truffle hunters, foie gras farmers and winemakers. No compromises. Only trusted restaurants, domaines and places with soul.

02

A pace that leaves room to breathe

Dordogne cannot be rushed. A leisurely breakfast in a château, truffle hunting at dawn, a long farmhouse lunch: we seek depth rather than quantity. Every stop leaves an impression.

03

History, flavour and landscapes in one itinerary

Châteaux above the river, medieval villages, prehistoric cave paintings and Michelin-starred restaurants: the Dordogne is exceptionally rich. We bring it all together in one living journey.

Dordogne Valley

A REGION WITH CHARACTER

Why the Dordogne

One of the few regions in France where châteaux, truffles and Michelin-starred restaurants share the same forest.

Black truffles

Black truffles: the ‘diamonds’ of Périgord

Tuber melanosporum, the world's most prized truffle, grows here in the oak woods of Périgord Noir. Hunting with a trained dog at dawn, tasting fresh truffle in the forest and dinner with a truffle menu that same evening: an experience you cannot recreate.

Over a thousand châteaux above the river

Over a thousand châteaux above the river

Nowhere in France has such a concentration of medieval architecture. Beynac, Castelnaud, Rocamadour and Lescour: every château has a name and a legend. Medieval Sarlat, listed by UNESCO, and villages on cliffs above the river: landscapes you remember for a lifetime.

The home of foie gras, confit and Cahors wines

The home of foie gras, confit and Cahors wines

Dordogne is France’s gastronomic capital. Foie gras straight from a family farm, duck confit, Cabécou goat’s cheese, Périgord AOC walnuts, Bergerac wines and dark Cahors Malbec. Every lunch is an occasion, and every farm a discovery.

THE VALUE OF THE TOUR

Why it is worth it

A truffle wood with a professional truffle hunter, a foie gras farm with a tasting in the barn, and private Cahors winemakers' cellars: these doors open only to people they know. "The best journeys are those where you do not have to think about anything. Just be."

  1. 01

Access to places closed to tourists

No early coach departures or crowds at ticket offices. The Dordogne reveals itself in tranquillity. We design the programme so that every moment has substance, rather than simply filling time.

  2. 02

    A gentle, unhurried travel pace

Logistics, bookings, itineraries, restaurants and transfers are all organised in advance. You arrive and simply enjoy the journey, without an unnecessary decision to make.

  3. 03

Everything is planned: all you have to do is enjoy it

You return home with understanding, not just photographs. What a truffle is and why it costs a thousand euros a kilo. Why Cahors wines are called ‘black’. How the region’s life works from within.

  4. 04

An in-depth experience, not a superficial excursion

"The best journeys are those where you do not have to think about anything. Simply be."

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the main questions before booking.

When is the best time to visit Dordogne?

The Dordogne is beautiful year-round. Truffle season runs from November to March. Autumn, September–November, is ideal: golden forests, harvests and fewer tourists. Spring and summer are for châteaux, rivers and gardens. Winter is peaceful and welcoming, with Christmas markets.

How much does the tour cost and what is included?

From €1,100 per day, per group. Accommodation is not included. The price is calculated for your dates and group size. Included: transfers, breakfasts,3 restaurant lunches and 3 dinners, all tastings, truffle hunting, a foie gras farm visit, admission tickets and guiding. Not included: flights and personal expenses.

How to get to the Dordogne?

The nearest major airport is Bordeaux, 1.5 hours away. You can also fly to Paris and take a TGV to Bordeaux or Brive-la-Gaillarde. We arrange transfers from any arrival point.

Do we have to travel during truffle season?

No. Truffle hunting is only possible from November to March. At other times, the programme centres on other food experiences: foie gras farms, markets, restaurants, cheeses and wines are available year-round.

Is the tour suitable for vegetarians?

The Dordogne is a meat-loving region, with duck and foie gras, but we adapt the programme. Mushrooms, cheeses, walnuts, truffles, wines and fresh vegetables: the region’s gastronomy is rich even without meat. Let us know beforehand.

Can we bring children?

Yes. Châteaux, caves, the underground rivers of Padirac and boat trips make the Dordogne interesting for children. We adapt the food programme for families. Recommended for ages eight and over.

What should I bring back from Dordogne?

Preserved truffles or truffle oil, jars of foie gras (which pass customs), Périgord AOC walnut oil, Cahors and Bergerac wines and vacuum-packed goat’s cheese. We help you choose and pack your purchases at Sarlat market.
