About the itinerary

Saint-Tropez and wine-country Provence excursion: tasting and sea

The Saint-Tropez excursion with a Provence wine tasting is for those who want to combine the legendary town, a scenic road through the Estérel's red rocks and rosé tasting at a winery.

Saint-Tropez is a Riviera icon: a harbour of yachts and fishing boats, the old lanes of La Ponche, the famous Place des Lices market and the atmosphere that has drawn artists, film stars and travellers since the 1950s. A private format with a sommelier guide and transport for the full day, ten to eleven hours. An early start, thoughtful stops, Estérel panoramas, lunch in Saint-Tropez and a sunset tasting. In summer, I account for traffic and we leave earlier. Ideal for lovers of wine, beautiful roads and authentic Provence.

Saint-Tropez is a chapter of its own in the Riviera’s story.

A former fishing village discovered by artists and filmmakers in the 1950s and then by the world, it remains one of the coast’s most sought-after places. Behind the glamorous façade is authentic Provence: La Ponche old quarter, Place des Lices market and residents playing pétanque beneath plane trees. The itinerary is long but balanced: an early start, a drive through the Estérel’s red rocks on one of Europe’s most beautiful roads, a town walk, harbour lunch and the finale, a sunset tasting at a Provençal winery. You will not be worn out; you will have lived a full Provençal day.

Who it is for

Who this itinerary is for

01

You want to see legendary Saint-Tropez

A Riviera icon: a harbour of yachts and fishing boats, boutique-lined old streets and the atmosphere that has drawn the world since the 1950s. You see not a postcard, but a living Saint-Tropez with history, character and hidden corners.

02

You love Provence rosés

A tasting at a winery among Provençal vines is more than a stop: it is an immersion in rosé culture. A flavour you cannot recreate at home, with terroir, sun and sea in the glass.

03

Ready for a full and beautiful day

Ten to eleven hours is substantial, but the road through the Estérel’s red rocks, a walk in Saint-Tropez, lunch and a tasting balance the day. You will not be worn out: you will have lived a complete Provençal day.

04

You appreciate scenic roads

The road through the Estérel massif is one of Europe's most beautiful: red cliffs, pine forests and an emerald sea. I make panoramic stops at the most photogenic viewpoints.

What you will see

What the itinerary includes

The road through the Estérel

The road through the Estérel

The road from Nice to Saint-Tropez crosses the Estérel massif: red volcanic rocks and pine forests descending to turquoise sea. One of Europe’s most beautiful coastal roads. Photo stops at the best viewpoints, contrasting red rock with the blue Mediterranean.

Saint-Tropez: the famous harbour

Saint-Tropez: the famous harbour

Saint-Tropez harbour combines fishing boats, superyachts and café terraces, including the legendary Sénéquier. Brigitte Bardot filmed And God Created Woman here, and Pointillist artists painted the sea. You will feel the atmosphere people have returned for over decades.

Old Town and La Ponche

Old Town and La Ponche

The narrow lanes of La Ponche, Saint-Tropez's most authentic neighbourhood. Stone houses, bougainvillea-covered walls, hidden courtyards and a church overlooking the bay. Here the town remembers its fishing past, before it became a global brand.

Provençal market on Place des Lices

Provençal market on Place des Lices

If the day coincides with market day, this stop is essential. The legendary Place des Lices market: fresh produce, lavender, cheeses, olive oil, Provençal fabrics and local people playing pétanque beneath plane trees. Real Provence in Saint-Tropez’s heart.

A Provence winery

A Provence winery

After Saint-Tropez, a winery in Provence. A tasting of rosé, white and red wines overlooking the vineyards. Learn why Provence rosé is considered the world’s best, how terroir affects flavour and the difference between direct pressing and saignée, or ‘bleeding’.

A panoramic stop on the return journey

A panoramic stop on the return journey

On the way back, another panoramic stop above the bay at sunset. Golden light covers Provence's hills while the sea below turns from turquoise to dark blue. The perfect ending and a last photograph for your collection.

Transport and logistics

How the itinerary works

Premium transport with a driver all day (10–11 hours).

Itinerary: Nice → the Estérel road,1.5–2 hours with stops → Saint-Tropez → a Provence winery → back through the Estérel. The Estérel road is more than a transfer: one of Europe’s finest coastal routes, with bends, tunnels and panoramas of red rocks and sea. Starting early,7:30–8:00, pays off with less traffic, better light for photographs and more time in Saint-Tropez. In summer it is essential; traffic entering town can steal an hour. I know alternative routes and the best times. The vehicle is chosen for your party, from a premium saloon to a minivan. Water, air conditioning and readiness for a long but extraordinarily beautiful journey.

What guests say about the itinerary

It was a long day but utterly unforgettable. The Estérel road was one of the most beautiful places I have seen. Saint-Tropez was not pretentious but genuinely beautiful and alive. The winery was the highlight: rosé, sunset and vineyard views, a dream.

I took the tour with friends, a great format for a group. The guide knows where to stop for the best photos, how to avoid traffic and where to eat lunch. The winery was excellent: we ordered a case of rosé delivered to Germany. Every time we open a bottle, we remember the day.
Denis · DüsseldorfAugust 2026
We travelled with children aged 14 and 16. The itinerary is long, but the early departure and sensible pace meant no one was tired. Saint-Tropez impressed everyone, especially the harbour and old lanes. At the winery, the children drank juice while we enjoyed the tasting, so everyone was comfortable.
The Nikitin family · Saint PetersburgJuly 2026
Saint-Tropez had been my dream, and the guide made the day perfect. The local-level knowledge, best photo spots, history without clichés and hidden courtyard with the perfect croissant. The winery exceeded expectations: now I understand why Provence rosé is considered the best.

FAQ

Questions about this itinerary

Answers to the main questions before booking.

Why is the itinerary so long?

Saint-Tropez is a one-and-a-half to two-hour drive from Nice. But the Estérel road is an attraction itself, not just a transfer. We make two or three panoramic stops, making the journey part of the experience. An early 08:00 departure helps avoid traffic.

Can the itinerary be shortened?

We can leave out the winery, finishing earlier and reducing the day to 8–9 hours. But I recommend keeping it: Provence and rosé belong together, and a sunset tasting overlooking vineyards is the ending this day deserves.

Is it worth going in summer?

Summer in Saint-Tropez means high season and traffic. I recommend leaving before 07:30. Write to me, and I will suggest the best time for your dates. June and September are ideal: warm, beautiful and with less traffic.

Can we add a beach visit?

Yes, add an hour on Pampelonne beach, the famous five-kilometre sandy stretch with clubs and quieter areas. It extends the day by 1–1.5 hours. We discuss it when booking, and I choose an area to suit you: family-friendly, lively or secluded.
